Club President Andrew McShane, Club Patron Don Jeffrey, and the committee held a presentation and recognition celebration at the Club on Tuesday 20th August to celebrate the presentation of a number of important milestones and awards.
These included the 100th birthday of our Service Member and WW2 Veteran Maurice Ducker. Maurice’s wife Helen, and nephew Gavin Frame (also a veteran) accompanied him. Maurice served in the Royal Navy. Prior to his relocation to Tasmania he was President for some years of Jamberoo R.S.L.
Maurice was presented with an Official Second World War Commemorative Medallion by the Hon Guy Barnett MP, Attorney General and Minister for Veterans Affairs.
A 50 year Membership Certificate from RSL Australia was presented to Ray Collins for his 50 years of continuous membership with the organisation, by RSL Tasmania CEO John Hardy. Ray is a Vietnam Veteran.
Sub-Branch Life Member Certificates were presented to Life Members:
Mark Jones and
Peter Dane
Members Ian Dobson, Graeme Hawes and Peter McGee were also recognised with life memberships but unfortunately were unable to attend the event and accept their certificates.
A full dining room of members and guests who attended reported that the evening was both interesting and informative.
