On Monday 14 April 2025 the Hon. Jacquie Petrusma, Minister for Veterans Affairs officially opened the Veterans Reflection Walk and Memorial in the Haldane Reserve behind the Lenah Valley RSL.
The Veterans Reflection Area and Memorial was the brain child of LVRSL members Josh Weir and Peter Dane and was completed with the assistance of funding of $ 5,000 obtained from the Teddy Sheean VC Memorial Grants Program.
While welcoming guests and visitors Peter Dane gave a brief background on Haldane Reserve and noted that the area had been gifted to the State of Tasmania by Norman James Brian Plomley AM (1912—1994) an important biophysicist, anatomist, museum director, and historian.
In thanking official guests and visitors LVRSL President Andy McShane acknowledged the Tasmanian Governments support of veterans by having a dedicated minister for veterans afffairs. He also extended his thanks to Josh Weir and Peter Dane who put in a great deal of work getting the project off the ground; together with Clubmembers who assisted with completion, in particular, Club member Kevin Clark and his son Damien who undertook the ground works.
In addition he made mention of the extensive community support received from The Lenah Valley Community Association, the Pat Murnane Memorial Hall Committee, and the City of Hobart who donated the plants.
