On Remembrance Day 2025, we gathered to acknowledge, honour and remember those who have served our country in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.
This year marks 111 years since the start of the First World War, in what was Australia’s costliest conflict. The 25th April 2025 marked 110 years since the start of the Gallipoli campaign of the First World War. 2025 also marks 80 years since the end of the second world war including the anniversaries of the 8th May 45 - Victory in Europe Day (VE Day) and 15th August 1945 – Victory in the Pacific Day (VP Day) marking the surrender of Japan.
The 25th June 2025 also marked the 75th anniversary of Australia’s involvement in the Korean War.
We remember and honour the 103,000 Australian men and women who have served and died for our nation, as well as recognise the sacrifices made by their families.
We were delighted to be able to welcome Jackson Kennedy. Jackson had the honour of participating in the Lenah Valley RSL's Remembrance Day Service as part of the Sacred Heart Choir. Jackson will be attending ANZAC DAY 2026 in France as a result of his success in the Frank MacDonald Memorial Prize.
The 63 Army Cadet Unit provided the catafalque party.
LVRSL Vice President Michael Howarth delivered the Remembrance Day address.
Chaplain Paul Crennan delivered the opening (and closing) prayers and LVRSL Patron Don Jeffrey recited the Ode.
Noel Hunt played the Last Post and the Rouse.
The Sacred Heart Choir sang "Spirit of the ANZAC’s" and both the Australia and New Zealand National Anthems once again this year. LVRSL sincerely thanks the Sacred Heart Choir, for their support.
The Club would also like to extend thanks to Michael Howarth, Don Jeffrey, Mike Wilson, Craig Spencer, Noel Hunt, Paul Crennan, Garry Fletcher, Mark Jones, Sacred Heart College, the Committee of the LVRSL, and all others who helped on the day.
They once again willingly gave their time and expertise to ensure the service was conducted smoothly and with respect.
We sincerely thank Club Life Member Peter Dane for again coordinating a very successful Remembrance Day and acting as master of ceremonies.
After the service many gathered in the clubrooms for light refreshments.
