The Lenah Valley RSL Sub Branch (LVRSL) was formed on Wednesday 27th February 1946.

The inaugral President was Mr Ellis Erle Dean a WWI veteran who served as President in 1946 and 1950 and was subsequently made a Life Member in 1953.

The original clubrooms, known as the Lenah Valley Memorial Hall, were completed in December 1952. They were partly built by the returned servicemen with strong support from the committee and the community in raising enough funds. The site is now known as the Pat Murnane Hall. Pat Murnane was LVRSL President in 1979 but also served as Secretary. Pat passed away in March 1993.

The LVRSL ultimately moved to its current site at 188 Lenah Valley Road (previously tea rooms) in 1973 which it has continually redeveloped over the last 50 odd years.

These days LVRSL is a family friendly Club that welcomes new members and visitors to enjoy our Club experience with a great bistro and family friendly atmosphere. The Club has supported former and serving Australian Defence Force members and their families since 1946 - it has also provided a great place for people to meet and enjoy friendships.

LVRSL has a strong emphasis on preserving RSL traditions. This includes ANZAC Day in April, Vietnam Veterans' Day (originally Long Tan Day) in August and Remembrance Day (originally Armistice Day) in November each year. Importantly, LVRSL observes the daily remembrance (often referred to simply as ‘The Ode’) which takes place at 6pm each day.
