The AGM was held on Sunday 22nd March 2026 and was very well attended.
In his report to the Members Club President Andy McShane noted the sound operating result and mentioned the significant activity that LVRSL had been involved in over the last twelve months.
A copy of Andy’s report follows.
President’s Report 2026
The last 12 months have seen significant activity in our club and continued support from our members and the Lenah Valley community.
Our 2025 ANZAC Day commitments were conducted in the usual manner of professionalism and proud recognition of those who served in the Great War and conflicts since.
Remembrance Day was also recognized by a smaller group who paid appropriate respect to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy every day. Planning is now being finalised for ANZAC Day this year.
We have also enjoyed several presentations, visits and functions in our club from various Corps and Unit groups over the year.
You have heard the Treasurers report and can see that the club continues to operate strongly while maintaining prices that are cheaper than alternative venues.
In the last year our club volunteers have been busy with successful grant applications that have seen us open the Veteran Reflection space in the Haldane Reserve, the completion of our rear door renovations, the purchase and installation of our new display cabinets and the conduct of our student art competition.
We continue to seek out grant opportunities to increase the amenities of our club.
The spectacular presentation of our gardens was an ongoing effort by a trusty band of volunteers who continue to show up and give freely of themselves.
The 2025 Golf Day was another highlight of our year with a lot of hours put in by volunteers and sponsors to create a day that was enjoyed by all and contributed further to the Welfare Fund of our sub-Branch
Fund raising in our club continues to maintain our viability and allows us to support or undertake programs that support the veteran community. Our principal reason for existing is to provide support to Veterans, Ex and currently Serving members of the ADF, and allied forces and their families. We are very fortunate that we can undertake this important task wrapped in the support of a nurturing and inviting community club that values our social members as highly as those who served.
I have purposely steered away from individualizing thanks in this forum because I would need to speak for an hour. I have enjoyed the generous support of your committee, the staff, the countless volunteers and both private and corporate sponsors to be able to steer our club to another very successful year.

Art Competition
The art competition in schools closed in September 2025.
The Competition was open to any year 7 - 10 student from Dominic or Sacred Heart College with submissions in A3, with accompanying explanation.
Prizes were $500 for the winning entry with the opportunity to duplicate their work on a 1.2m x 2.4m installation to be displayed in the club, and $100 for the runner up with the opportunity to display their entry in the club.
LVRSL views the competition as a great opportunity to connect and engage with the younger generation, to help demystify the RSL clubs of Tasmania and we hope that this first step will lead to further engagement and collaboration in the future.
LVRSL thanks Bec Thomas MLC who generously sponsored the competition. Thanks also to Peter Bignold who coordinated the competition on behalf of LVRSL.
The winners were
Elka King, from Dominic College - Winning entry
Hayley Bukowiecki, also from Dominic College - Commendable effort
Both works can now be viewed in the Clubrooms.
