Remembrance Day, commemorating the signing of the Armistice that ended World War 1 at 11am on 11 November 1918 was again attended by around a 100 people in 2023.
This year's Remembrance Day marked the 105-year anniversary of the signing of the Armistice. November 11 is now observed around the world as a day to remember the sacrifice that countless people have made in service to their country. We remember and honour the 103,000 Australian men and women who have served and died for our nation, as well as recognise the sacrifices made by their families.
Chaplain Paul Crennan delivered the opening (and closing) prayers and LVRSL President Andrew McShane recited the Ode.
Noel Hunt played the Last Post and the Rouse.
Cadets from 63 Army Cadet Unit conducted catafalque duties at both Lenah Valley RSL & Claremont RSL.
The Club would like to extend thanks to Andrew McShane, Mike Wilson, Craig Spencer, Noel Hunt, Paul Crennan, Grace McCallum, 63 Army Cadet Unit, the Committee of the LVRSL, and all others who have helped on the day.
They willingly gave their time and expertise to ensure the service was conducted smoothly and with respect.
We sincerely thank Peter Dane for again coordinating a very successful Remembrance Day and acting as master of ceremonies.
