Veteran Details
Mr Weir was born in Launceston and lived in the village of Tarraleah for the first four years of his life, followed by Ringarooma then Launceston.
He enlisted in the Regular Army in November 1995.
He was allocated to the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps (RAAMC) and on completion of medical training posted to the 2nd Cavalry Regiment in Darwin.
He served in the Regular Army for 15 years; the majority of that time with the 2nd Cavalry Regiment deploying with the Regiment to Bouganville Island (PNG) and Southern Iraq and also humanitarian missions in Australia.
Medically discharged due to service caused injuries in 2010 he returned to Tasmania and married his love Laura and together they have two children.
He lives in Lenah Valley and is a keen supporter of Veterans entitlements and activities.
As a Totally & Permanently Incapacitated (TPI) Veteran he likes to help other Veterans through the Veterans Gardening Plot at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, is an advocate in training and a Member of the Vietnam & Veterans Motorcycle Club:
